Parlo ogni tanto con uno che a questi tornei ci va (ecco perché avevo i risultati prima che uscissero) e :

Mi ha anche spiegato che di base la differenza è che i gironi funzionano così: se passi primo, sarai più avanti nella bracket. Non è che hai dei match facili, hai proprio tanti bye, parti da più avanti, mentre gli altri giocatori devono fare più match. Quando esce la bracket vi mostro cosa intendo. Può funzionare comunque ma in questo caso i seeding non erano fatti bene.
